The
Midwest Waterways Flat-coated Retriever Club
began over 25 years ago as a regional club affiliated with the
Flat-coated Retriever Society
of America. We are a group of Flat-coated Retriever owners
spread out over a large geographical area including the states
of Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. We also have members in the adjoining
states of Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky.
All are
welcome -if you would like to join our club, print out the Membership Application and mail it to our club secretary.
We are an enthusiastic
bunch, with members who are active in all facets of the dog world:
field work, obedience, tracking, agility, conformation, and therapy
dogs.
We want to encourage
and promote this multipurpose dog to the Breed Standard approved
by the American Kennel Club and encourage sportsmanlike competition
in all areas of endeavors.
We hold many types
of functions for our members and their dogs - including supported
entries in conformation, obedience and agility events, WC/WCX
hunting tests, and an annual meeting which is held in conjunction
with one of the above events. We try to scatter these events among
the various states so all of our members will have a chance to
participate.
We also promote owner
education of this versatile breed. In the past few years we have
held seminars on hunting, obedience, and agility-a trend we intend
to continue!
And we don't forget the fun stuff-- We have picnics, fun field
days, and even Christmas parties-all Flat-coats and owners welcome!
